Since we are now well and truly into autumn, we thought it would be the perfect time for a roundup of our summer season here at Linden Editions!

It has been a wonderful summer for us. We started July with the publication of Struck, written by Susanna Bissoli and translated by Georgia Wall. Look at this gorgeous cover, designed by Tasja Pulawska and featuring Maria Norek’s art!

Our summer highlight…✨

A huge highlight of our summer was Magdalena Blažević’s UK book tour. We published Magdalena’s exceptional novel, In Late Summer, in April this year. It is a beautiful, powerful and poetic portrait of childhood amidst wartime, and it was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to listen to Magdalena speak about her writing practice and the experiences that have informed it.  

On 8th September, Magdalena joined a panel at the Embassy of Croatia alongside fellow writer Jurica Pavičić and translator Christina Pribichevich-Zorić. This was a fascinating and varied discussion chaired by the inimitable Susan Curtis, publisher and founder of Istros Books. 

On 9th September, Magdalena, Susan, Jurica and Christina were then joined in conversation with Rosie Goldsmith, director of the European Literature Network, at Hatchard’s Piccadilly.

On 11th September, we ventured out of London and up to Cambridge, where Magdalena was in conversation with Burhan Sönmez, award-winning author and president of PEN International, at Heffers Bookshop. It was fantastic to listen to such a thought-provoking, nuanced and intimate conversation. 

We’d like to thank everyone involved in organising these events, with particularly warm thanks to Istros Books, Bitter Lemon Press, The Embassy of Croatia and the British Croatian Society, Hatchard’s Piccadilly, Anamaria at Heffers Bookshop, Lillie Razi-Toon, and, of course, Magdalena, for being such a fantastic speaker, writer and guest!

Watch this space for Not There by Mariusz Szczygieł, tr. Antonia Lloyd-Jones: a collection of essays about grief and absence publishing on 6th November 2025.

Mariusz Szczygieł has written several books of reportage about the Czech Republic and Poland. His books have been published in 21 countries and have been awarded the Europe Book Prize and the Prix Amphi. From 1995-2001, Szczygieł hosted a popular talk show on Polish television. Szczygieł runs the Institute of Reportage in Warsaw, a creative writing reportage school, and Dowody na Istnienie, an independent publishing house.

🌞 Bye bye, sunshine! 🌞

What other literary highlights did we have this summer at Linden? Well, since you’ve read this far, you get a chance to peek at our holiday snaps. Look at this beautiful bookshop that Tasja visited in Tangier, Morocco - and the upcoming Linden Edition that was on the shelf! Nermin was travelling the world. 🌎 And we even managed to visit Sevgi Sosyal’s old house in Ankara.
